SIVE2 Storytelling in Virtual Environments

Friday 5th May, Phoenix Digital Media Centre, Leicester, 10am-6pm

Massive thanks to all the participants of SIVE2, the second of DAPPER's Storytelling in Virtual Environments events for an incredibly exciting and stimulating day. Responding to demand from participants, the day focussed on 2 key areas - Challenges of Narrative Development in Virtual Environments (led by artist Alex Peckham) and Ethics and Virtual Environments (led by Catherine Flick, Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility at De Montfort University).

Alex Peckham

Catherine Flick

The day was structured to combine specialist talks with the opportunity to apply/reflect on these specialisms within participants' own work, which generated much discussion.

The final session was an opportunity for those making work in/for virtual environments to share their works in progress with the other participants, getting informed critical feedback from other practitioners. Work-in-Progress shared included;

Vestige (NSC Creative)

Playing God (Ben Fredericks) and

Dance and Virtual Reality (Kerryn Wise).

Plans are in development for SIVE3 in the Autumn - watch this space for details!
